Description
Comes with English rules.
Pickomino / Heckmeck is a 20 minute party game for 2-7 players where players are trying to collect worms on a grill for their chickens by rolling 8 dice. After each roll, players have to decide to keep all the dice of one value and rerolling the rest, with the restriction that the dice selected cannot match any value previously taken. When a player’s selected dice total matches the tile number exactly, they can take a worm tile numbering 21 to 34 from the central board or other players most recently obtained tile. The player is also required to have selected at least 1 dice with a worm symbol on it. If a player rolls but cannot select a series of dice because it matches dice values they have previously selected, the higher worm tile gets flipped and the turn passes to the next player. The game ends when all of the available worm tiles have been selected.
Pickomino / Heckmeck plays like a game that chickens would play, if chickens could operate a grill and barbeque worms. Lots of luck of the draw getting the most worms, snatching tasty worms from other chickens, and defending your worm pile.
The best part about Pickomino / Heckmeck is the tension of taking low numbers on a bad first couple of rolls in the hopes of rolling multiples of the bigger numbers in future. The set timer in the game of reducing the highest available tiles also forces players to change their dice selection strategy as the game progresses.
The worse part about Pickomino / Heckmeck is the luck of the dice can mean that some players may not be able to get any worm tiles for multiple turns despite their best efforts, and also are susceptible to getting their tiles stolen from others if the tiles have low numbers.
For similar Yatzee-style rolling and rerolling with a strong dash of luck, Strike and Impact Battle of Elements are good choices, while King of Tokyo, Dice Throne, and Ganz Schon Clever / Doppelt So Clever offer longer and more strategic experiences.
