Please note that the Grandpa Beck’s edition plays 2-8 players while the Schmidt version plays 2-6 players.

Skull King is a 30 minute light trick-taking game for 2-6 players where players set targets on how many tricks they can win based on their hand of 1-10 cards. Players set targets simultaneously, and obtain points based on successfully achieving their objectives, while losing points for missing out. The game ends after 10 rounds, with players getting 1 additional card per round.

The best part of Skull King is achieving a target of 0 tricks in the last 4 rounds of the game, usually through a mixture of luck and skill.

The worst part of Skull King is getting a mixed hand of cards that prevent a high bid for many points or a 0 bid, especially in the later rounds when big scores are hard to come by.

Alternatives:
